  • Learn history and culture of Tanzania and Kenya;
  • Apply knowledge and personal skills to complete one of the following three service learning projects:
    • Promote education and improve the quality of life for women and children in disadvantaged communities.

    • Work with a community to help develop a social entrepreneurship project.

    • Help develop and implement a long term program that focuses on environmental, social and economic sustainability

  • Students will have an opportunity to complete an indpendent study project. Project topic examples include, but are not limited to:

    • Sustainable management of land and environment, food security and emergency preparedness, science and technology applied in food and agriculture development, reduced emissions for deforestation and degradation, wildlife management and public awareness. 

    • Social entrepreneurship, development and small business functions. Those who choose this option will explore challenges within communities and develop methods to address them.  You will work with and learn from entrepreneurs and small business owners. 

  • Visit Mt. Kilimanjaro

  • Locate the "Big Five" while on safari at one of Kenya and Tanzania's many beautiful and vast national parks.
